    Gameplay Rules

    1. Coin toss to decide who bats first.

    2. Matches are timed. The umpire stops the clock when the ball goes dead and restarts when bowler is ready to bowl.
    3. Seven players per team take the field. One substitution allowed per match except in the case of injury.
    4. Overs are EIGHT balls long. All bowling is done from the same end – batsmen swap ends at the end of the over.
    5. Four different bowlers must bowl one over each before anyone bowls a second over. Please note:
    - Normal bowling action is required – overarm with straight elbow; and
    - Rear foot must be on or behind the bowling crease as there is no popping crease; and
    - There is a maximum run-up during Round Robin of five paces.
    6. Extras:
    - Wide is called if the umpire considers the bowler’s delivery beyond batsman’s playing reach.
    - No Ball is called if the bowler oversteps popping crease or bowls a bodyline delivery.
    7. Runs are scored as usual by both batsmen running between the wickets. Note: there is no batting/popping crease and batsmen must cross the bowling crease to complete a run.
    8. Tip & run. If you touch the ball with the bat, you have to run.
    9. Boundaries: Out of bounds on the full earns 6 runs; Out of bounds otherwise earns 4 runs.
Note: you can be dismissed if caught out of bounds.
    10. The side scoring most runs, wins. If both sides score the same number of runs, the match is tied. If the match runs out of time before the innings have been completed, the match is drawn.
    11. Good sport and sportsmanship are paramount.

    Types of Dismissal

    Bowled As normal

Stumped No stumpings (as no batting crease)

Run out As normal (see Rule 7 above)

Caught As normal except: Rebound off a wall counts as on the full AND One hand-one bounce (also applies to dogs who are automatically on the fielding team)

LBW Normal LBW rules do not apply – instead 3 hits on the body and you’re out (full tosses do not count)

NOFB Not-out-first-ball applies in Round Robin matches only

    Pitch & Equipment

    The ground is a mostly-walled, former stallion yard – 20m wide x 30m long.

The wicket is situated 3 metres from the east end of the ground with the pitch running 11 metres westwards to the bowling crease.

The batting crease is carpeted and the wicket itself is 1 foot wide x 1 metre high.

Match balls and will be provided. These are medium-soft cricket training balls and should negate the need for pads and gloves etc.
